AQIS-Licensed Fumigation Across North Queensland

Onshore and Offshore Import and Export Consignments: Our Expert Fumigators Ensure Pest-Free Deliveries

This is the service almost nobody else in North Queensland offers, and the one where the paperwork matters as much as the treatment.

If you're exporting out of Townsville, Cairns or Gladstone and your consignment needs treatment certification that will satisfy a foreign biosecurity authority, the certificate has to be issued by an operator holding the right accreditation. A treatment without a compliant certificate is a consignment sitting on a wharf at the other end.

What we fumigate

Shipping containers, both full container loads and consolidated cargo. Sawn and dressed timber, pallets and dunnage requiring ISPM 15 compliance. Used machinery and vehicles requiring biosecurity treatment before import or export. Bulk agricultural commodities. Personal effects and household goods in containers. Stored product in warehouses and silos, where rodent control for warehouses is often a related concern alongside fumigation.

Both directions. Export consignments requiring treatment to meet the importing country's conditions, and import consignments directed for treatment on arrival by the Department of Agriculture.

The certification is the product

Every fumigation we carry out is documented to the standard the receiving authority requires. That means the fumigation certificate itself, gas concentration readings taken and recorded across the exposure period, the treatment schedule applied, dosage rate, temperature and duration, and ventilation and clearance records.

Different destinations have different conditions, and the conditions change. New Zealand, China, the United States, the European Union and Middle East markets all specify their own requirements around dosage, minimum temperature and exposure time. Getting this wrong at the treatment stage is discovered at the destination, which is the worst possible place to discover it.

Tell us the destination country and the commodity when you book, and we'll confirm the applicable treatment schedule before we start rather than afterwards.

Coverage across three ports

We service Townsville, Cairns and Gladstone, which covers the bulk of North Queensland's export activity between them.

Attendance can be at the wharf, at a depot, at your premises or at a nominated hardstand. Containers can be fumigated under sheet or in chamber depending on the commodity and the treatment required.

Timing, and why it matters more than you'd think

Fumigation is not instant. A standard container treatment involves sealing, gas introduction, an exposure period typically measured in 12 to 24 hours or longer depending on the schedule and temperature, then ventilation to safe levels before the container can be handled.

Build that into your logistics rather than around it. The most common problem we see is a consignment booked for fumigation the afternoon before a vessel cut-off, which leaves no margin for a temperature-driven extension to the exposure period.

Tropical temperatures generally work in your favour here, since higher temperatures allow shorter exposure schedules for most commodities. Ambient temperature at the time of treatment is recorded and forms part of the certificate.

Safety and compliance

Fumigants are restricted products handled under strict conditions. Every treatment is carried out by accredited personnel with the required licensing, with exclusion zones established, monitoring throughout, and clearance testing before the space is released.

We hold the accreditation, the insurance and the documentation, and we can provide all of it to your freight forwarder, customs broker or client on request.

Fumigation is quoted per consignment. Tell us the commodity, the volume or container count, the destination country and your timeframe, and we'll come back with a treatment schedule and a price. If your site also needs general pest or termite treatment in Townsville, see commercial pest control in Townsville.

Frequently asked questions

Do you hold AQIS accreditation?

Yes. We are accredited for export and import fumigation and can provide our accreditation details to your freight forwarder, customs broker or client. Very few operators in North Queensland hold this.

Which ports do you service?

Townsville, Cairns and Gladstone, plus attendance at depots, hardstands and client premises across the region.

How long does container fumigation take?

Sealing, gas introduction, an exposure period usually of 12 to 24 hours or longer depending on the schedule and temperature, then ventilation and clearance testing before the container can be handled. Build a margin into your logistics rather than booking against a vessel cut-off.

What certification do I get?

A fumigation certificate documenting the treatment schedule, dosage rate, exposure period, temperature, gas concentration readings and clearance, prepared to the requirements of the destination country.

Can you fumigate timber for ISPM 15 compliance?

Yes. We treat sawn timber, pallets and dunnage requiring compliance with international phytosanitary standards for wood packaging material, with the accompanying certification.
